Blake Bortles was born on April 28, 1992 in Altamonte Springs, Florida, and played at UCF, where he was American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2013 and beat fifth-ranked Baylor 52-42 in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1, 2014. The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him third overall that May. He replaced Chad Henne in Week 3, started the rest of the year, and took a league-high 55 sacks. Madden NFL 15 listed him at 78 for that 2014 season.

In 2015 Bortles set Jaguars single-season records with 4,428 passing yards and 35 touchdowns while leading the league with 18 interceptions. Madden NFL 17 listed him at 82 for 2016, the highest of his career, in a year Jacksonville finished 3-13. He threw for 3,687 yards in 2017 as the Jaguars went 10-6 and won the AFC South, beat Pittsburgh 45-42 in the divisional round on January 14, 2018, and lost the AFC Championship Game 24-20 at New England a week later. Madden NFL 18 listed him at 77 for that season.

Jacksonville benched him for Cody Kessler in 2018, a season for which Madden NFL 19 listed him at 80, and released him on March 13, 2019. He appeared in three games for the Rams that year and later held roster spots with Denver, Green Bay and New Orleans without playing. He finished with 1,562 completions on 2,634 attempts for 17,649 yards, 103 touchdowns and 75 interceptions.
