The Patriot who leaped the line to block a kick
Jamie Collins arrived at the 2013 Combine and posted an 11-foot-7 broad jump, then translated that spring into one of the most athletic linebackers New England has employed. Southern Miss produced him, the Patriots took him 52nd overall in the second round, and he could rush, drop, cover a tight end or, memorably, hurdle the offensive line to block an extra point against Indianapolis.
His best year was 2015: a Pro Bowl, second-team All-Pro, and a share of the league lead in forced fumbles. He won Super Bowl XLIX after the 2014 season and later appeared in LIII, though the middle of his career took him to Cleveland from 2016 to 2018 and Detroit after that, with multiple returns to Foxborough mixed in. Ten seasons in, he retired in October 2023.
The rating arc mirrors the trajectory. He was a raw 69 as a rookie in the 2013 edition, jumped to 81 the next year, then reached a career-high 90 in the 2015 edition after the All-Pro season. It slid through the Cleveland years before a bounce back to 83 in the 2020 edition once he landed in Detroit.
