Gavin Escobar was a productive receiving tight end at San Diego State, and Dallas surprised a lot of people by taking him in the second round in 2013, a pass-catching tight end drafted to sit behind Jason Witten when the roster had bigger needs. The pick never worked, not because of anything Escobar did wrong but because there was simply no role to be had.
