Lawrence Guy was born March 17, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada, attended Western High School there, and was a Freshman All-American at Arizona State in 2008. The Green Bay Packers drafted him in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL draft with the 233rd pick, and he spent his entire rookie year on injured reserve. Madden NFL 12 listed him at 59 for the 2011 season. Indianapolis signed him off Green Bay's practice squad on October 17, 2012.

San Diego claimed him off waivers on October 8, 2013, a season Madden NFL 25 rated him 63 for, and Baltimore claimed him on September 24, 2014. He recorded two sacks on Josh McCown on October 11, 2015 and finished that year with 46 tackles and 4.5 sacks, the most of his career.

Guy signed a four-year, $20 million contract with New England on March 11, 2017 and started there for seven seasons, winning Super Bowl LIII on February 3, 2019. He took his only career interception off a botched shovel pass by Baker Mayfield in Week 8 of 2019, a season Madden NFL 20 put him at 82 for. Madden NFL 22 listed him at 78 for 2021, when he started all 17 games. He played four games for Cincinnati in 2024 and retired on October 24, 2025 on a one-day contract with New England, finishing with 509 tackles, 17 sacks and one interception.
