Michael Crabtree was born September 14, 1987, in Dallas, Texas, and played college football at Texas Tech, where he won the Biletnikoff Award and unanimous All-America honors in both 2007 and 2008. On November 1, 2008, he caught a Graham Harrell pass inside the 10-yard line and scored with a second left to beat top-ranked Texas 39-33.
San Francisco drafted him tenth overall in 2009. He did not sign until October 7 and caught 48 passes in 11 games as a rookie, the season Madden NFL 10 listed him at 84. In 2012 he had 85 receptions for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns, then caught five passes for 109 yards and a touchdown in the Super Bowl XLVII loss to Baltimore. Madden NFL 25 put him at 90 for 2013, a year a torn Achilles limited to five games.
A Richard Sherman tip on a pass meant for him ended the NFC Championship Game in January 2014. He spent 2015 through 2017 in Oakland, catching 232 passes for 2,543 yards and 25 touchdowns, and Madden NFL 18 listed him at 85 for 2017. He added 54 catches for Baltimore in 2018 and two games for Arizona in 2019, finishing with 637 receptions for 7,499 yards and 54 touchdowns. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2022.
