Undrafted center who led the NFL in snaps played in 2012
Ryan Wendell went undrafted out of Fresno State in 2008 and spent four years as a backup before New England handed him the center job in 2012. He answered by playing 1,379 snaps that season, counting special teams, more than any other player in the NFL. He simply never left the field.
That iron-man year is the whole reason his name registers here. His Madden rating had languished at 57 and 61 in the 2010 and 2011 editions, then spiked to a career-best 89 in the 2013 game after that workhorse season, before drifting back into the 70s as he shifted to right guard.
He stayed in New England through 2015, won a Super Bowl XLIX ring, and finished with Carolina in 2016. Wendell moved straight into coaching, working the offensive line in Buffalo before taking over that job for the Los Angeles Rams in 2023.
