Gosder Cherilus grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts, the son of Haitian immigrants, and started a school-record 51 straight games at Boston College before Detroit took him 17th overall in 2008. He played right tackle with real power in his hands and a mean streak that showed up in the run game. Five years in Detroit built his reputation as a mauler on the right edge.

In March 2013 he signed a five-year, $35 million deal with Indianapolis that briefly made him the highest-paid right tackle in the league, and he protected Andrew Luck's blind side of the formation for three seasons before finishing in Tampa Bay. He appeared in 132 games with 116 starts and later founded a foundation serving communities in the United States and Haiti. His Madden line reflects the Colts payday. After years in the 70s with the Lions, he jumped to a career-best 90 in the 2013 edition, then eased back through the 80s before closing at 70 in the 2016 game.
