A gifted tackle whose back gave out
Marcus McNeill stepped in as a rookie and immediately protected Philip Rivers's blind side at a high level. The Auburn product was enormous with light feet, one of the better young tackles in football.
Madden jumped him to a 94 by the 2007 edition off that Pro Bowl rookie year. A chronic back condition kept interrupting and eventually ended his career, but two Pro Bowls in he had shown exactly how good he could be.
