Ahmad Brooks Madden Career 2008-2017 - Peak 89 OVR

Ahmad Brooks was a Butkus Award finalist at Virginia whose stock cratered over off-field concerns, and he slid all the way into the 2006 supplemental draft before the Bengals spent a third-round pick on him. He landed in San Francisco, where he spent nine seasons as a physical edge presence in the 49ers' 3-4.

His signature moment is a painful one. In November 2013, with the 49ers clinging to a lead in New Orleans, Brooks strip-sacked Drew Brees on what looked like a game-sealing play, only to be flagged for a hit to the neck. The Saints kept the ball and won. He was later fined, and the fine was rescinded. He was better than that one snapshot: 8.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl nod in 2013, five tackles and a sack in Super Bowl XLVII against Baltimore, and 43.5 sacks across his career.

The ratings caught up late. Brooks sat in the 70s through his early years, reached 84 in the 2012 edition, and topped out at 89 in 2013. He held in the mid-80s for two more seasons before the number faded to the 70s as his run wound down in Green Bay in 2017.
