A Duquesne ballhawk who went undrafted and covered anyway
He set nearly every interception record at Duquesne, 28 picks in all, and still heard his name go uncalled in the 2003 draft. Cleveland signed him as a free agent, and the long, physical corner turned into a starter. His 2007 season with the Browns brought six interceptions and 88 tackles. After a lost year in Detroit, he landed in New England and had the best game of his life in 2009, intercepting rookie Mark Sanchez three times and returning one 56 yards for a touchdown on his way to five picks that season.
A shoulder injury wiped out his 2010, and he was released in 2011, finishing with 18 interceptions and 367 tackles.
His Madden trajectory tracks the rise from tryout body to trusted starter. He began as a 64 in the 2004 edition, climbed steadily through the 70s, and reached a 90 in the 2008 edition after the six-pick year, then held in the high 70s and low 80s through his Patriots run.
