Rex Grossman: Bears Quarterback Who Started Super Bowl XLI
Rex Grossman was born August 23, 1980, in Bloomington, Indiana. He played college football at Florida, where he was the Associated Press College Football Player of the Year in 2001 and finished second in the Heisman Trophy voting to Eric Crouch by 62 votes. The Chicago Bears drafted him 22nd overall in 2003, and Madden NFL 04 listed him at 73 for a rookie year in which he made three starts.
Grossman suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 3 of 2004 and broke an ankle in a 2005 preseason game. He returned that December and completed 17 of 41 passes in a 29-21 playoff loss to Carolina. He started all 16 games in 2006 and threw for 3,193 yards with 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions as Chicago went 13-3 and reached Super Bowl XLI, losing 29-17 to Indianapolis on February 4, 2007. Madden NFL 07 rated him 85 for that season.
He lost the starting job during 2007 and appeared in one game for Houston in 2009. Madden NFL 11 listed him at 65 for 2010, his first year in Washington. He started 13 games there in 2011 and threw for 3,151 yards with 16 touchdowns and 20 interceptions, a season Madden NFL 12 rated 76. He spent 2012 and 2013 as a third-string quarterback and last signed with Atlanta in August 2015. He finished with 10,232 passing yards, 56 touchdowns and 60 interceptions in 54 games.
