Marcus Washington Madden Career 2002-2009 - Peak 93 OVR

Washington spent four years mostly waiting behind others in Indianapolis, a 2000 second-round pick out of Auburn whose real career started when he left. The Colts let him walk in 2004, unable to keep him with a Peyton Manning extension looming, and Washington signed with the Redskins and immediately became one of the better linebackers in the NFC.

That first season in Washington earned him a Pro Bowl nod, and he drew alternate selections in the two years that followed while anchoring a strong defense under Gregg Williams. He played through 2009 before a release ended his run.

The Madden arc reads like a scouting report on a late bloomer. As a young Colt he sat at 71 in the 2000 edition and dropped to 60 the next year. The jump came with the move to Washington: 78, then 88, then a 92 in the 2005 edition, topping out at 93 in 2006. The number stayed in the high 80s into the 2008 edition. He later coached defensive line at the University of San Diego.
