Fred Miller was born on February 6, 1973 in Houston, Texas and lettered four years at Baylor, earning first-team All-Southwest Conference honors in 1994 and 1995. The St. Louis Rams drafted him in the fifth round, 141st overall, in 1996. He became a full-time starter at left guard in 1998, and Madden NFL 99 listed him at a calculated 78 for that season.
He moved to right tackle in 1999 and started all 16 games, and Madden NFL 2000 put him at a calculated 80 for that year. In Super Bowl XXXIV on January 30, 2000 he gave up no sacks to Jevon Kearse and caught a tipped pass for the Rams' first reception of a 23-16 win. He then signed with Tennessee, the team St. Louis had just beaten, and started all 16 games in each of his five Titans seasons.
Chicago signed him in 2005 and he started 15 games at right tackle, and Madden NFL 05 had him at 88 for the 2004 season. In 2005 an altercation with Bears center Olin Kreutz broke Miller's jaw, and both players were fined $50,000. The Bears released him on February 18, 2008 and re-signed him on September 10. He played 192 games with 164 starts over 13 seasons and was inducted into the Baylor Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
