Israel Ifeanyi Madden Career Madden NFL 1997 - Peak 26 OVR
A second-round pick, three games, one 26
Israel Ifeanyi was born in Lagos, Nigeria, became an All-American pass rusher at USC, and went to San Francisco in the second round in 1996 with the job of getting after quarterbacks. It did not happen. A knee injury in training camp derailed him almost immediately, and he played just three NFL games, recording no sacks and no tackles, one of the emptiest stat lines a second-round pick has ever produced.
Madden has a single card of him, a 26 for the 1996 season, the lowest kind of number the game assigns a rookie it has no book on, with an awareness rating of 25 that captures how little anyone knew about him as a pro. It is the only rating he ever got, and it turned out to be the whole story.
Ifeanyi was out of the NFL almost as fast as he arrived and later became a high school coach in California. He is a genuine bust, a high pick whose body gave out before his career started, a name that appears on a roster and then vanishes. The lone 26 is a fitting and final verdict on a career that never got going.
