Chester McGlockton was born on September 16, 1969, in Whiteville, North Carolina, and played college football at Clemson. The Los Angeles Raiders selected him 16th overall in the 1992 draft, and he started every game from 1993 through 1997. He recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks in 1994, the first of four consecutive Pro Bowl seasons.
He was a second-team All-Pro in 1994 and 1996 and a first-team selection in 1995. Madden NFL 97 rated him 70 for the 1996 season, his second-to-last year with the franchise. He signed with Kansas City in 1998, and Madden NFL 99 gave him a calculated 88 for that season. Madden NFL 2001 rated him 92 for 2000, his third and final year with the Chiefs.
McGlockton played two seasons in Denver and a final one with the New York Jets in 2003, when he appeared in all 16 games without a start. Madden NFL 03 rated him 74 for the 2002 season. He finished with 51 sacks in 179 games across 12 seasons, then joined the Stanford coaching staff as a defensive assistant in 2010. McGlockton died on November 30, 2011, at the age of 42, from complications of left ventricular hypertrophy.
