Draft Profile: Bio
Rustin Young was the top-ranked prospect in Hawai'i, according to 247Sports, while playing at St. Louis School in Honolulu. He was a Polynesian Bowl selection and an Under Armour All-American, threw the discus and shot on the track team, and flipped his commitment from Oregon State to Michigan State.

Young played in one game as a redshirt in 2024. Over 2025 he logged 448 snaps and made five starts at tackle, including the final four on the left side, but three sacks and 26 pressures were charged against him. Jonathan Smith said afterward that he held his own.

Young entered his name in the portal in the opening weeks of 2026, then pulled out and stayed in East Lansing. Preseason outlooks had him as a backup tackle, and no game statistics for him have surfaced this fall. He is a redshirt sophomore with a lighter frame than most tackles.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Made five starts at tackle as a redshirt freshman
  • Started the final four games of 2025 at left tackle
  • Moves well for his size, with a good forty time
  • Ranked first in Hawai'i in the 2024 class by 247Sports
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Gave up three sacks and 26 pressures in 2025
  • Has not appeared in a 2026 game, according to available records
  • Summer depth charts listed him as a backup tackle
  • Carries less weight than most tackles at the next level
  • Entered the portal in January before withdrawing and staying
Scouting Report: Summary
Young is an athletic young tackle who started five games for Michigan State in 2025. He moves well and closed that season as the starter at left tackle.

However, he struggled in protection, giving up three sacks and 26 pressures, and he has not played this season. He also lacks ideal bulk for a tackle.

Overall, Young is a developmental tackle with starting experience but uneven tape. He projects as a priority free agent and should remain in school.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
