A farm-built lineman from Norfolk, Nebraska, who controlled livestock before defensive linemen, Pieper was a district MVP with 130 tackles as a two-way senior and a state shot put champion. He originally committed to North Dakota State before flipping to Iowa as a three-star. He redshirted in 2023 and backed up in 2024 before taking over as the Hawkeyes' starting right guard.In 2025 Pieper started all thirteen games, allowing just one sack and ten pressures across more than 330 pass-blocking snaps while drawing a single penalty, part of an Iowa line that won the Joe Moore Award as the nation's best. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors, a powerful, athletic interior blocker with a rare physical base and room to keep developing. The shot-put strength and the farm-forged toughness show up at the point of attack, and the All-Big Ten season marked him as one of Iowa's more promising young linemen.
