Draft Profile: Bio
Luke Montgomery grew up in Findlay, Ohio, and played at Findlay High School. A four-star recruit and a top-100 prospect in the 2023 class, he chose Ohio State over Michigan, Notre Dame, Clemson, Penn State and Oklahoma. His younger brother, Ryan, is a four-star quarterback committed to Georgia.Montgomery played in seven games as a freshman in 2023 and was a rotational lineman in 2024, playing 29 snaps against Tennessee and 31 against Oregon in the playoff as Ohio State won the national championship. He started all 14 games at left guard in 2025 and was a second-team All-Big Ten pick. He did not allow a sack in the regular season, worked through a minor injury late in the Penn State game, and then allowed three sacks in the losses to Indiana in the Big Ten title game and Miami in the playoff, as the line gave up five sacks in each game. In May 2026 he said there had been times early in his career when he wanted to quit or transfer, but that he stuck it out because he could see the greater good.
Montgomery announced in January that he would return for his senior season, and he has started every game at left guard in 2026 next to center Carson Hinzman. He has allowed no sacks and six pressures in eight games for a 6-2 team that lost by one point at Texas and fell 30-18 at USC on 31 October.

He has committed only three penalties across the last two seasons, and he was part of the 2024 national championship team as a rotational lineman.His 2026 season has been his most consistent. He has anchored the left side of a line that has reshuffled on the right side because of injuries and a new left tackle, and he has played next to Carson Hinzman in every game. Ohio State is 6-2, with losses by one point at Texas and at USC on 31 October, and he has said the team learned about itself through adversity after the way last season ended.
