Evan Tengesdahl was an All-Ohio and first-team All-GWOC lineman at Wayne High School near Dayton, Ohio. On3 rated him a four-star recruit while other services had him as a three-star, and ESPN ranked him the No. 5 center in the 2023 class. He chose Cincinnati over Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Pitt.Tengesdahl redshirted in 2023 and played in 11 games as a reserve in 2024, earning Academic All-Big 12 honors. He won the starting left guard job in 2025 and started every game without allowing a sack, giving up 11 pressures. He was a third-team All-American by the AP, only the fifth Cincinnati offensive lineman with All-America honors, and a first-team All-Big 12 pick by the AP.
Tengesdahl announced in December 2025 that he would return for 2026 and was a preseason first-team All-American by The Sporting News and The Athletic. He led a line that ran for 254 yards in the opening win over Boston College, earning Big 12 offensive line of the week honors, and Cincinnati ran for 252 yards in the 37-24 win over No. 8 Texas Tech, after which he said the line had been motivated because the Red Raiders had not been run on. Tengesdahl is a powerful, technically sound guard who went from a redshirt and reserve to an All-American. He started every game at left guard in 2025 without allowing a sack, earned AP third-team All-America and first-team All-Big 12 honors and returned as a preseason first-team All-American. He finishes run blocks with power and has the anchor to hold up against interior rushers. He has stayed at left guard throughout, so his tape shows steady growth at one position.His 2026 season has had strong moments for a 5-3 team. Cincinnati ran for 254 yards in the opener against Boston College, earning the line Big 12 weekly honors, and for 252 yards in the 37-24 upset of No. 8 Texas Tech. He said afterward that the line was motivated by Texas Tech's reputation for stopping the run, and the performance showed the physical style that made him an All-American.
