Anthonie Knapp played tight end and outside linebacker at Roswell High School in Roswell, Georgia before his coaching staff moved him to offensive tackle as a sophomore. The transition paid off. Knapp earned three consecutive first-team all-region selections and was named to the Army All-American Bowl, drawing offers from Penn State, Georgia Tech, and Louisville before committing to Notre Dame as a three-star recruit in the 2024 class.When projected starter Charles Jagusah tore his pectoral muscle in fall camp, Knapp stepped in at left tackle for the opener at Texas A&M. He became only the third true freshman offensive lineman to start a Week 1 game in Notre Dame history. He started all 15 games before an ankle injury in the Orange Bowl against Penn State, earning Freshman All-America honors from ESPN, The Athletic, College Football Network, and 247 Sports.
As a sophomore in 2025, Knapp started 12 games and took a clear step forward. He cut his pressures allowed by roughly two-thirds, gave up just one sack all year, and anchored an Irish rushing attack that hit 329 yards against Syracuse and 306 against USC.

However, at 296 pounds with short arms and below-average timed athleticism he is badly undersized for tackle, the Miami opener showed what NFL-grade length does to that margin, and every projection slides him inside to guard or center, where he has never taken a snap.Overall, Knapp has the movement skills and instincts to get the job done inside, but he is not a drive blocker yet and has to prove he can match NFL power. He projects as a mid-round interior convert with starter upside, with the ceiling of an NFL starter at guard or center and the floor of an interior backup.
