Draft Profile: Bio
Iapani "Poncho" Laloulu grew up in Honolulu and played at Farrington High School, spending his junior year at Saint Louis School, and he played in the 2023 Under Armour All-America Game. A four-star recruit, he followed his older brother, Faaope, who had played on Oregon's offensive line, to Eugene.

Laloulu played in all 14 games as a freshman in 2023, at center and guard, and made his first start in the Fiesta Bowl. He became the starting center in 2024 and started all 15 games in 2025, allowing one sack and 11 pressures as Oregon's line reached the Joe Moore Award finalist list for the third straight year. He was a Rimington Trophy finalist, a first-team All-American by the FWAA and a third-team All-American by the AP, and Oregon beat James Madison and Texas Tech in the playoff before losing to Indiana in the semifinal. He hurt his ankle against USC in November but did not miss a start.

Laloulu announced after the playoff win over James Madison that he would return for his final season, calling it a decision he made with the Lord. He has started every game at center for a 5-3 team, extending a streak of consecutive starts that began with that Fiesta Bowl, and he has allowed two pressures and no sacks in eight games.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Allowed two pressures and no sacks in eight games this season
  • Rimington Trophy finalist and FWAA first-team All-American in 2025
  • Has made 38 straight starts, most of them at center
  • Heavy, powerful anchor that stops bull rushers in the middle
  • Played both center and guard, adding flexibility on the interior
  • Started on three straight Joe Moore Award finalist lines
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Below-average timed speed limits his range on zone runs
  • Run blocking trails his pass protection, especially when asked to reach
  • Flagged three times this season and four times in 2025
  • Lateral range on outside zone is functional rather than a strength
Scouting Report: Summary
Laloulu is a heavy, powerful center whose pass protection is among the best at his position. He allowed one sack and 11 pressures in 15 starts in 2025, was a Rimington Trophy finalist and an FWAA first-team All-American, and he has allowed two pressures and no sacks in eight games this season. His anchor stops bull rushers in the middle, and he has made 38 straight starts. He also has experience at guard from his freshman season, which gives a team some flexibility on the interior.

He has also been the steady center of one of the best lines in the country. Oregon's line has been a Joe Moore Award finalist three straight years, and he played through an ankle injury against USC late in 2025 without missing a start. He returned for 2026 after the playoff win over James Madison, and he has started every game for a 5-3 team that has had to win close games against Nebraska and Northwestern. His streak of starts dates to the Fiesta Bowl at the end of his freshman season, and he has not missed a game since.

However, his movement is the limitation. His timed speed is below average, his lateral range on outside zone is functional rather than a strength, and his run blocking trails his pass protection. He has been flagged three times this season after four penalties in 2025. Teams that run a wide-zone scheme may see him as a better fit at guard or in a gap scheme. His forty time sits in the lower part of the position group, so his combine testing will be watched closely.

Overall, Laloulu is an experienced, powerful center who protects the quarterback, and his consistency is his best trait. He projects as a third-round center with the ceiling of a long-term starter in a gap scheme and the floor of a reliable interior backup. His consistency and durability give him one of the safer floors among the interior linemen in his range.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
