Draft Profile: Bio
TJ Shanahan Jr. won three straight state titles at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, after starting at Timber Creek in Orlando. Rated a five-star by Rivals and the top lineman in Texas, he played in the Polynesian Bowl. He wears No. 67 to honor his godbrother, Jon Halapio, a former Florida lineman.

Shanahan redshirted as an Aggie in 2023 and started five games in 2024, but he was arrested in September 2024 on a charge of a minor in possession of alcohol and failure to identify and was suspended. He transferred to Penn State for 2025 and started five games at both guard spots.

Shanahan followed offensive line coach Phil Trautwein to Florida for 2026 and has started at right guard all season. He has allowed two pressures in eight games, and Jon Sumrall has said you feel him at the line of scrimmage.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Has allowed two pressures in eight games at right guard
  • Physical run blocker whose presence his head coach has praised
  • Starting experience at both guard spots for two Power Four programs
  • Handled 81 snaps at Auburn with one pressure allowed
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Penalties have crept in, with two flags against Campbell
  • Arrested in 2024 at Texas A&M and suspended
  • Three schools in four years raise questions teams will ask
  • Injury history includes a knee in high school and a 2024 injury at A&M
  • Redshirt junior with another year available in 2027
Scouting Report: Summary
Shanahan has found a home at right guard for Florida. He plays with power, has been tough to beat in pass protection, with two pressures allowed, and held up over a long afternoon at Auburn.

However, his path has been rocky. He was arrested and suspended in 2024, has played at three schools and has had penalties this season. He also has eligibility left.

Overall, Shanahan is a strong, experienced guard. He projects as a priority free agent, and another college season could restore his stock.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
