No Fly Zone enforcer who won a ring in Denver
T.J. Ward learned to hit at De La Salle in California, during the program's absurd 151-game winning streak, and he never stopped. A senior-year injury scared off scouts and pushed him to walk on at Oregon, but the Browns still took him 38th overall in 2010. He played strong safety like a linebacker who happened to line up deep, and ballcarriers felt every collision.
Cleveland got his early prime, including a first-team All-Pro year in 2013, and Denver got the payoff. Ward was a piece of the No Fly Zone secondary that carried the Broncos to Super Bowl 50, a 24-10 win over Carolina in which he had seven tackles, a fumble recovery, and an interception. He earned three straight Pro Bowls from 2013 through 2015 before finishing up in Tampa Bay.
His Madden number jumped once the ball got rolling. He was a 69 as a rookie in the 2010 edition, leaped to an 85 the following year, and peaked at 91 in the 2014 game as the Denver secondary came into its own.
