A.J. Green was born on July 31, 1988 in Summerville, South Carolina, and played three seasons at Georgia before Cincinnati drafted him fourth overall in 2011. He caught a touchdown from Andy Dalton in his first NFL game and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie, the first of seven consecutive selections from 2011 through 2017. Madden NFL 13 rated him 89 for the 2012 season, his second year.

Green passed 1,000 receiving yards in five straight seasons to open his career. Madden NFL 15 rated him 95 for 2014, and Madden NFL 18 rated him 94 for 2017. A torn ankle ligament suffered in training camp in July 2019 cost him the entire season, and he returned in 2020 to play 16 games with reduced production.

He signed with Arizona in March 2021 and spent two seasons there, catching 78 passes for 1,084 yards; Madden NFL 22 rated him 79 for 2021. Green announced his retirement in February 2023. He finished with 727 receptions for 10,514 yards and 70 touchdowns across 12 seasons.
