The center New Orleans traded up for and never had to replace
New Orleans traded up 14 spots with Miami to grab Erik McCoy 48th overall in 2019, and the Texas A&M center paid it off by starting from his first game as a pro. He arrived having allowed just one sack across his college career, and he slid straight into the middle of the Saints line as a rookie All-Pro-team selection.
McCoy became the anchor and iron man of that front, starting every game he was healthy enough to play through his early seasons. He earned Pro Bowl nods in both 2023 and 2024, the second time as a replacement for Detroit's Frank Ragnow, and cashed in with a five-year, $63.75 million extension in September 2022. Injuries piled up late, including groin and elbow trouble in 2024 and a torn biceps in 2025.
