Josh Hines-Allen was born on July 13, 1997 in Cumberland County, Virginia. He played at Kentucky, won the Bednarik Award in 2018 and left as the school's career sack leader with 31.5. Jacksonville drafted him seventh overall in 2019, and he had 10.5 sacks as a rookie, a Jaguars rookie record, and made the Pro Bowl as an alternate. Madden NFL 20 listed him at 77 for that season.
A knee injury ended his 2020 season after eight games. He came back for 7.5 sacks in 2021, a year Madden NFL 22 put at 82, and in the 2022 finale he returned a fumble for the touchdown that clinched the AFC South. In 2023 he recorded 17.5 sacks, a Jaguars single-season record, and made a second Pro Bowl; Madden NFL 24 listed him at 85 for that season.
Jacksonville franchise-tagged him in March 2024 and signed him to a five-year, $150 million extension in April. He changed his name from Joshua Allen to Joshua Hines-Allen in July 2024 to honor his sisters and uncles, and Madden NFL 25 listed him at 91 for the 2024 season. In November 2025 he recorded his 56th career sack, passing Tony Brackens for the Jaguars franchise record. Through the 2025 season he had 61 sacks in 107 games.
