Connor Williams Madden Career 2019-2024 - Peak 80 OVR

Connor Williams was a consensus All-American tackle at Texas, so good as a sophomore that he was one of only a handful in school history recognized that early, and Dallas took him in the second round in 2018 and moved him inside to guard. He started at left guard for four seasons, solid if occasionally penalty-prone, a torn ACL costing him part of 2019.

The real leap came after he left. He signed with Miami in 2022, moved to center, and turned into one of the best in the league at the position, a lineman playing every snap and anchoring a fast, creative offense. The Madden card followed the rise, climbing from a 76 to an 80 peak in Madden NFL 24 as the position change unlocked him, the grade catching a player who had found his true spot a few years into his career.

It ended abruptly and young. A torn ACL late in 2023 interrupted the best stretch of his career, and after signing with Seattle he unexpectedly retired at 27 in the middle of the 2024 season, walking away at an age when most linemen are just entering their prime. Williams is a story of a good guard who became an excellent center and then chose to stop. The climb to an 80 is the mark of a player who had just figured it out.
