Dalvin Cook was born on August 10, 1995 in Miami, Florida, and played at Miami Central High School. He broke Warrick Dunn's Florida State career rushing record in 2016, and Minnesota drafted him 41st overall in 2017. He tore an anterior cruciate ligament against Detroit on October 1 of his rookie year, which held him to four games. Madden NFL 18 rated him 80 for that season.
He gained more than 1,100 rushing yards in each season from 2019 through 2022 and was named to four straight Pro Bowls. Madden NFL 21 rated him 91 for the 2020 season, when he ran for 1,557 yards and 16 touchdowns. Madden NFL 22 rated him 95 for 2021. He started all seventeen games in 2022, his last year in Minnesota, and Madden NFL 23 rated him 94 for that season.
The Vikings released him in June 2023. He signed with the New York Jets and played fifteen games with one start, gaining 214 rushing yards. Baltimore added him to its practice squad that December, and he did not appear in a game for the Ravens. Dallas signed him in November 2024 and he played two games. Through the 2024 season he had 6,227 career rushing yards and 47 rushing touchdowns.
