Daryl Washington Madden Career 2011-2014 - Peak 90 OVR
An All-Pro at 26 whose game vanished to suspension
For one season Daryl Washington looked like the best young linebacker in football. The Cardinals took the TCU product 47th overall in 2010, and by 2012 he had exploded: 134 tackles, nine sacks and an interception, a rare production combination that earned him All-Pro recognition. He could blitz, cover and run sideline to sideline, and Arizona built its defense around his range.
Then it all came apart off the field. He was suspended four games in 2013 for violating the substance abuse policy, then suspended for the entire 2014 season after a second violation, a ban that stretched on indefinitely. He was conditionally reinstated in 2017 but released weeks later, having played his last down at 26. He never took another NFL snap.
His Madden ratings capture the rise without ever getting to show the fall on the field. He started as a 69 in the 2010 edition, climbed to 74 and then 84, and reached his ceiling of 90 in the 2013 edition off that All-Pro year. He held an 89 in the 2014 game, a rating for a player whose talent the suspensions froze in place.
