Tim Shaw Madden Career 2008-2013 - Peak 71 OVR

Tim Shaw made his living where cameras rarely pointed. In 2009 with Chicago he set a franchise record with 30 special teams tackles, production that kept a special-teams ace employed across four cities. A Penn State linebacker who lined up next to Bednarik winners Paul Posluszny and Dan Connor, Shaw came out in the fifth round of the 2007 draft to Carolina, then wound through Jacksonville and Chicago before landing in Tennessee, where he served as special teams captain in 2011 and 2012.

In August 2014 he revealed, during an Ice Bucket Challenge video, that he had been diagnosed with ALS. He has spent the years since as a fundraiser and author, publishing the memoir Blitz Your Life in 2017, and his old high school field in Michigan was renamed Shaw Stadium that same year.

Madden treated him like the coverage-unit grinder he was, parking him in the 60s and low 70s for most of his career. The odd exception was a 90 in the 2010 edition, a spike the game never repeated before dropping him to 62 by 2012.
