A Division II fullback who ran a 41-yarder and made the Pro Bowl
Fullbacks rarely get this kind of spotlight. Weaver came out of Carson-Newman, a Division II school, undrafted in 2005, and spent four years in Seattle before Philadelphia gave him the ball more often. In 2009 he rewarded them, breaking a 41-yard touchdown run against the Giants that November and earning both first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl start as a fullback, a distinction almost nobody at the position gets. That winter he signed a three-year, $11 million deal that made him the highest-paid fullback in the game.
It ended cruelly. On his first carry of the 2010 season, against Green Bay, he tore the ACL in his left knee, and the injury finished his career. He retired in 2013 on a one-day contract with the Eagles, closing with 679 rushing yards and 75 catches.
The Madden numbers caught the peak. He was an 88 in the 2008 edition, and after the All-Pro season his rating climbed to a 90 in the 2010 edition before settling at 87 in 2011.
