Idaho walk-on who blocked for a Colts Super Bowl

A walk-on at Idaho who left with a civil engineering degree, Jake Scott built a career on showing up. The Colts spent a fifth-round pick, 141st overall in 2004, and got back a starter who anchored the right side of Peyton Manning's line. He started all 16 games in both 2005 and 2006, then blocked his way to Super Bowl XLI, where Indianapolis beat the Bears in the Miami rain in February 2007.

In 2008 he moved to Tennessee, where he helped clear the lanes for Chris Johnson's 2,006-yard season in 2009. He started 128 of the 131 games he played across stops in Indianapolis, Tennessee, Philadelphia and Detroit, missing almost nothing.

His Madden number climbed with his standing: a 73 in the 2005 edition when he was still proving it, rising to a peak 92 by the 2008 game before settling into the mid-80s as the Titans years wore on.

How to read these: Each row is the player’s rating in that year’s Madden, listed by the NFL season it covers (Madden NFL 2001 = the 2000 season). Madden sets its ratings before the season is played, so they reflect the previous season’s performance - a player’s breakout year tends to show up as a jump in the following year’s game.
Note: Some Madden releases tracked fewer attributes than others. Cells shown as - were not published by EA that year.
