The 73-yard strike that won Super Bowl XXXIV

Isaac Bruce caught the pass that won a Super Bowl, a 73-yard strike from Kurt Warner in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XXXIV that beat Tennessee 23-16 and capped the Greatest Show on Turf. Drafted 33rd overall out of Memphis in 1994, Bruce ran routes with a smoothness that made difficult things look effortless, and he retired with 1,024 receptions, 15,208 yards, and 91 touchdowns, numbers that carried him to Canton in 2020. He made four Pro Bowls and led the league with 1,781 receiving yards in 1995.

Madden respected the craft for a long stretch. His rating opened at 88 in the 1996 edition and topped out at 93 in the 2001 game, holding in the low 90s across most of the decade before dipping as he wrapped up with San Francisco. The Rams retired his No. 80, and Memphis finally had a Hall of Famer to call its own.
