Pat Swilling: 1991 Defensive Player of the Year, 107.5 sacks

Patrick Travis Swilling was born on October 25, 1964 in Toccoa, Georgia, and played at Georgia Tech, where he set an NCAA record with seven sacks in a game against North Carolina State and was a first-team All-American in 1985. The New Orleans Saints drafted him in the third round, 60th overall, in 1986.

Swilling played right outside linebacker in the Dome Patrol alongside Rickey Jackson, Vaughan Johnson and Sam Mills, and went to the Pro Bowl after each season from 1989 through 1993. In 1991 he led the NFL with 17 sacks and was voted Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year; Madden NFL 92 carried a calculated 86 for that season. Madden NFL 93 and Madden NFL 94 each carried a calculated 99, covering the 1992 and 1993 seasons.

He was traded to Detroit in 1993, where the Lions un-retired Joe Schmidt's number 56 for him, and he made his fifth and final Pro Bowl that year. He signed with the Raiders in April 1995 and started every game at defensive end in 1995 and 1996; Madden NFL 97 listed him at 66 for 1996. After a year away he returned for 1998 and finished with 107.5 sacks. Swilling was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame on April 30, 2009 and served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2001 to 2004.
