Draft Profile: Bio
A four-star out of De Smet Jesuit in Creve Coeur, Missouri, Gray chose Notre Dame over Alabama, LSU, USC and Ohio State and earned playing time right away, appearing in twelve games as a freshman in 2023 with eleven tackles and an interception.He moved into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 2024 and made one of the season's biggest plays, returning an interception 99 yards for a touchdown against USC to help clinch a College Football Playoff berth.
An injury trimmed his 2025 to ten games, but Gray still broke up eight passes and added two interceptions with sixteen tackles, reading the quarterback and breaking on throws from zone. Across three seasons he banked twenty passes defended and a pick-six, projecting as a zone-scheme cover man with starter reps and real ball production. The 99-yard return ranks among the longest pick-sixes in Notre Dame history, and the eight breakups in 2025 stood among the ACC's best.

Gray is an experienced boundary corner with good timed speed and the length to contest at the catch point, and he flashed ball skills with two interceptions and eight breakups, reading the quarterback and driving on throws from zone. However, the coverage results are a real problem: he gave up too much in coverage, drew nine penalties grabbing at the route stem, and his man coverage is poor as he loses leverage against quicker releases.Overall, Gray is a tools-and-takeaways corner whose down-to-down coverage and discipline have to tighten significantly, best in a zone scheme that keeps the play in front and lets him drive on the ball, and a move to nickel may suit him. He projects as a Day 3 developmental cover corner, with the ceiling of a zone-scheme starter if the discipline cleans up and the floor of a depth corner and special-teamer.
