Jaylon Johnson turned a shutdown 2023 into one of the richest cornerback contracts in Bears history. That season he intercepted four passes, returned one for a score, and drew the highest Pro Football Focus coverage grade of any corner in the league at 90.8, routinely erasing the opponent's top receiver by himself. Chicago franchise-tagged him and then signed him to a four-year, $76 million deal in March 2024.

A second-round pick, 50th overall in 2020 out of Utah, Johnson took a few seasons to fully arrive. Madden had him at a modest 73 in the 2020 edition and 77 the next year before the leap: 82 for the 2022 game, and then back-to-back 89s in the 2024 and 2025 editions after the breakout and the Pro Bowl nods that followed.

He built his reputation less on interception totals, which sat around ten early in his career, than on how little quarterbacks were willing to test him. Physical at the line and comfortable in press coverage, he became a corner offenses simply schemed away from rather than challenge.
