Tampa Bay traded down and still landed Vita Vea 12th overall in 2018, a 347-pound wall out of Washington who occupies blockers the way furniture occupies a room. Double teams are the price of admission against him, and he has the quickness to make even that insufficient, piling up 35 sacks through 2025 from a spot that traditionally produces almost none.
He is not purely a wrecking ball. In 2019 Vea lined up as an eligible receiver and caught a touchdown, and a year later he clogged the middle on the Buccaneers defense that won Super Bowl LV over Kansas City. Pro Bowl selections followed in 2021 and 2024.
Madden has slowly acknowledged how hard it is to move him. Vea opened at a 79 in the 2018 edition, crossed into star territory, and hit a 93 in the 2022 edition, a mark he matched again in the 2025 edition. Few interior linemen sustain that grade, and fewer still do it while occasionally splitting out wide.
