Chris Godwin came to Tampa Bay as a third-round pick, 84th overall in 2017 out of Penn State, and grew into the most dependable target in the Buccaneers' passing game. His breakout arrived in 2019 with 1,333 yards, nine touchdowns and a Pro Bowl selection, and he has piled up four 1,000-yard seasons in all. When Tom Brady signed in 2020, Godwin gave up his No. 12 so the quarterback could wear it, switching to 14, and months later he owned a Super Bowl LV ring.
The body has tested him. He tore an ACL late in 2021 and dislocated an ankle in 2024, each injury ending a season, yet he kept coming back as a productive slot and outside threat into his 30s.
His Madden climb mirrored the trust he earned. Godwin entered as a 75 in the 2017 edition, reached 88 in the 2020 game after the championship push, and hit his high of 89 in the 2022 edition following back-to-back 1,000-yard years.
