From flagged rookie to first-team All-Pro at left tackle
Garett Bolles survived a rough start in life before he ever anchored a line. Kicked out of his father's home as a teenager, he was taken in by the Freeman family, served an LDS mission, and worked his way through Snow College before a dominant lone season at Utah made him the 20th overall pick of the 2017 draft.
His early Denver years were a struggle. Holding penalties piled up, and general manager John Elway called him out publicly for drawing more flags than anyone. Then he rebuilt his technique and his reputation, earning second-team All-Pro honors in 2020, signing a four-year, $82 million extension in December 2024, and finally landing his first Pro Bowl and a first-team All-Pro selection in 2025.
Madden captured every swing of that story. He drew a 77 rookie grade in the 2017 edition, bottomed out at 69 in the 2020 edition during the penalty stretch, then climbed steadily back to a career-high 89 in the 2025 edition.
