Damon Harrison was born on November 29, 1988 in New Iberia, Louisiana. He left Lake Charles Boston High School without a scholarship offer, dropped out of Northwest Mississippi Community College and worked nights at a Walmart before William Penn University, an NAIA program in Oskaloosa, Iowa, recruited him. He started all 44 games he played there. The New York Jets signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2012, and he appeared in five games as a rookie.
He started all 16 games at nose tackle in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Madden NFL 25 rated him 66 for 2013, and Madden NFL 15 rated him 88 for 2014. He signed a five-year contract with the New York Giants in March 2016 and was named first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press for that season.
The Giants traded him to Detroit on October 24, 2018. Because of the two clubs' bye weeks he played 17 games that year, the first defensive lineman to do so. Madden NFL 19 rated him 95 for 2018 and Madden NFL 20 rated him 95 for 2019. He spent 2020 with Seattle and Green Bay. Across 124 games he recorded 494 tackles and 11 sacks. Harrison announced his retirement on November 13, 2021.
