Walsh arrived as a sixth-round pick out of Georgia in 2012 and immediately did something no rookie kicker had done, making ten field goals of 50 or more yards without a single miss. He tied the rookie record with 35 field goals, scored 141 points, and became the only rookie named first-team All-Pro that season, a leg that seemed to promise a decade of Sundays.

His Madden card reflects that sensation: a 66 in the 2012 edition before anyone knew who he was, then a leap to 92 in the 2013 edition after the record rookie year. What most fans remember came on January 10, 2016. Perfect on three earlier attempts, Walsh hooked a 27-yard game-winner wide left in the final half-minute of an NFC Wild Card game, and the Vikings lost to Seattle 10-9 in brutal cold. He never fully recovered the job, was released by Minnesota in 2016, and a year later signed with the very Seahawks who had benefited from the miss. He finished at 82.4 percent for his career.
