A tweener who flashed as a rookie and faded
Martez Wilson was an All-Big Ten linebacker at Illinois, a third-round pick the Saints tried to convert between linebacker and edge. He flashed with a sack and a half in a rookie playoff game, a hint of more than arrived.
Madden climbed him from a 68 to a 71 and carried a 71 onto his one Cowboys card after a 2013 season scattered across New Orleans, Oakland and Dallas. His production, around five career sacks, never matched the athletic promise, and a neck injury on his CFL debut ended things. The tools stayed a step ahead of the results.
