Falcons' strong-legged punter who threw his body into returners

Matt Bosher spent his entire nine-year career as a Falcon, taken in the sixth round, 192nd overall, in the 2011 draft out of Miami. He handled both punting and kickoffs in Atlanta, averaging 45.7 yards on 489 career punts and booming kickoffs with a touchback rate above 50 percent. He was not a punter who avoided contact either, throwing his body into returners and finishing with 28 tackles over the years.

Ratings for specialists move slowly, and his did too. He entered as a 56 in the 2011 edition, then rose as he established himself, hitting 90 in the 2014 edition and a career-best 92 in the 2015 edition. The leg strength was the draw. Bosher gave Atlanta a field-position weapon on both the punt and the kickoff for most of the 2010s before injury ended his time there after the 2019 season.
