Darrel Young arrived in Washington as an undrafted linebacker out of Villanova in 2009 and made his NFL life by switching to fullback, a position change that turned a roster long shot into a seven-year pro. His signature afternoon came on November 3, 2013, when he ran for three touchdowns against San Diego, the last in overtime to win it, an outlandish stat line for a player whose job was mostly to clear the way for the ballcarrier.

He spent 2009 through 2015 in Washington, lead-blocking out of the backfield during the years Alfred Morris was piling up rushing yards, then finished with brief stops in Chicago and Carolina.
