The undrafted Nevada guard who played mean in Atlanta
Undrafted out of Nevada in 2005, he built a career on temper and leverage. By 2008 he was one of the meanest players on a good Atlanta line, a run-blocking guard who helped spring Michael Turner as the Falcons finished second in the league on the ground. The nastiness was literal: in 2011 he cursed into referee Jerome Boger's open microphone after a holding call and had to apologize publicly.
He broke in with San Francisco, made his name in Atlanta, and signed a four-year deal with the Rams in 2011, where he kept starting at right guard. A three-time first-team All-WAC pick in college, he finished with 82 starts across 87 NFL games.
The video game came around on him steadily. His overall jumped from 77 in the 2009 edition to 87 the next year, peaked at 91 in the 2012 game, then settled at 89 in 2013. He went into Nevada's athletics Hall of Fame in 2016, the rare undrafted lineman who made defenses uncomfortable.
