Devin Hester Madden Career 2009-2016 - Peak 81 OVR

Devin Hester was born on November 4, 1982 in Riviera Beach, Florida. He played college football at Miami, where he appeared on offense, defense and special teams, and the Chicago Bears drafted him 57th overall in 2006 as a cornerback with the intention of using him as a returner.

He returned a punt for a touchdown in his NFL debut and ran a missed field goal back 108 yards against the New York Giants on November 12, 2006. Madden NFL 07 listed him at 73 for that rookie season. On February 4, 2007 he returned the opening kickoff of Super Bowl XLI for a touchdown, the first player to do so in the game's history. He set a league record with six return touchdowns in 2007 and was a first-team All-Pro.

Chicago moved him to wide receiver, and he caught 51 passes for 665 yards in 2008, the season Madden NFL 09 rated him 81. On October 2, 2011 he broke the career punt-return touchdown record against Carolina, and Madden NFL 12 listed him at 79 for that year. He retired after stints with Atlanta, Baltimore and Seattle, holding NFL records with 20 return touchdowns and 14 punt-return touchdowns. Hester was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024.
