Tommy Kelly walked into the NFL undrafted out of Mississippi State in 2004 and walked out with 38 career sacks, which tells you how badly the league misjudged a 6-foot-6, 310-pound interior lineman. The Raiders found him, kept him nine seasons, and in 2008 Al Davis handed him one of the richest defensive contracts of the day.
Kelly played both end and tackle, wrecking blocking schemes with size and quickness up the middle, and finished with 328 solo tackles and nine forced fumbles over 150 games with Oakland, New England, and Arizona.
His Madden arc peaked right as the money did: a 71 in the 2005 edition, a career-high 91 in the 2008 game after the big payday, then a long settle into the high 70s and 80s as the Raiders years wore on.
