An All-Pro whose homecoming ended on day one
LeCharles Bentley was one of the best young interior linemen in football, an Ohio State product who could play center or guard and made multiple Pro Bowls for New Orleans. Then he signed with his hometown Cleveland as a prized free agent.
Madden had him at 69 early and a 95 by the 2007 edition. On the very first day of practice with the Browns, a knee injury and the infection that followed ended his career before he played a game for them, one of the cruelest breaks the sport has seen.
