Cade McNown Madden Career 2001-2002 - Peak 83 OVR

Cade Brem McNown was born on January 12, 1977, in Portland, Oregon, and started at quarterback for UCLA from 1995 to 1998, winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and finishing third in the 1998 Heisman Trophy balloting. The Chicago Bears drafted him 12th overall in 1999. He made his first start on October 10, 1999, against Philadelphia, completing 17 of 33 passes for 255 yards and a touchdown.

On December 19, 1999, McNown set Bears rookie records with 27 completions, 301 yards and four touchdowns in a 28-10 win over Detroit. He opened 2000 as the starter, but Chicago fell to 1-6 in his starts before a shoulder injury in the seventh game. He started once more that year, a 17-0 loss to San Francisco in which he completed 9 of 29 passes for 73 yards. Madden NFL 2001 listed him at 83 for the 2000 season.

Chicago traded him to Miami during the 2001 preseason, and he spent that year as a third-string quarterback without appearing in a game; Madden NFL 02 listed him at 70 for 2001. San Francisco acquired him in 2002, but a preseason shoulder injury required season-ending surgery, and the 49ers released him in 2003. All of his NFL play came with the Bears: 25 games, 15 starts, 281 of 515 for 3,111 yards, 16 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. The College Football Hall of Fame inducted him in 2020.
