Saints' No. 7 pick in 1998, All-Pro tackle in 2000

Kyle Turley was born on September 24, 1975 in Provo, Utah, played at San Diego State, where he was a consensus All-American in 1997, and was drafted seventh overall by New Orleans in 1998. He started 15 games at left guard as a rookie, a season for which Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 78, then moved to right tackle and started every game from 1999 through 2002.

He was a first-team All-Pro in 2000 and was never selected to a Pro Bowl. On November 4, 2001 against the New York Jets, he pulled safety Damien Robinson off quarterback Aaron Brooks, tore off Robinson's helmet and threw it downfield; he was ejected and fined $25,000. Madden NFL 03 rated him 91 for the 2002 season, and New Orleans traded him to St. Louis in March 2003, where he started all 16 games.

Herniated-disc surgery in March 2004 cost him the 2004 and 2005 seasons, and Madden NFL 05 rated him 94 for a 2004 season he did not play. The Rams released him in June 2005 after a failed physical. He returned with Kansas City for 2006 and 2007 and retired that December with 109 games and 107 starts. Turley testified before the House Judiciary Committee as a disabled retired player on January 4, 2010, fronted the Kyle Turley Band, and later opened a cannabis dispensary in California.

How to read these: Each row is the player’s rating in that year’s Madden, listed by the NFL season it covers (Madden NFL 2001 = the 2000 season). Madden sets its ratings before the season is played, so they reflect the previous season’s performance - a player’s breakout year tends to show up as a jump in the following year’s game.
Note: Some Madden releases tracked fewer attributes than others. Cells shown as - were not published by EA that year.
